Jackson County Parks + Rec

Lee's Summit R-7 School District
The 117-square-mile Lee’s Summit R-7 School District is recognized as one of the top educational systems in the state and nation. Located in the southeast portion of the Kansas City metropolitan area, the district serves the communities of Lee’s Summit, Greenwood, Lake Lotawana and Lake Winnebago as well as unincorporated areas of eastern Jackson County and also includes a small portion of Blue Springs and Kansas City municipalities. The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s enrollment for 2019-20 is approximately 18,500 students. Recognized nationally for its quality educational programs and a commitment to success for all students, the R-7 School District has good reason to attract its many new residents.

Missouri Department of Conservation
We protect and manage the fish, forest, and wildlife of the state. We facilitate and provide opportunity for all citizens to use, enjoy, and learn about these resources.
Missouri River Bird Observatory
Each year, MRBO conducts avian population monitoring and applied research on almost 100,000 acres of Missouri’s most imperiled habitats – prairies, wetlands and forests. The resulting data are communicated to land managers, owners and the public so that we all further understand specific effects of stewardship on birds. Education and outreach is an integral component of MRBO’s work and takes place in both formal and informal settings. Each year we conduct over 100 educational events for people of all ages. The organization’s work is accomplished in partnership with many other non-profits as well as state and federal agencies.
Missouri Southern State University
Missouri Southern State University is a four-year university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Located in Joplin, Missouri, in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, the University is within minutes from some of the greatest scenery and waterways in the nation.
Missouri State Parks
Missouri state parks and historic sites are administered by the Division of State Parks, which is a part of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Its main responsibilities are the administration of the Missouri state park system and coordination of statewide programs in the areas of outdoor recreation and trails.

Saint Louis Zoo
Home to over 13,000 animals representing 555 species, the Saint Louis Zoo is recognized worldwide for its innovative approaches to animal care and management, wildlife conservation, research and education. One of the few free zoos in the nation, the Saint Louis Zoo attracts approximately 3 million visitors annually and is the most-visited attraction in the region. And as a free zoo, visitors are encouraged to come back again…and again!
St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department
The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department offers unique parks, diverse facilities and a broad range of programs and special events for all ages to enjoy, in addition to features that enhance the region’s historical and natural environmental heritage. A number of amenities are available for use by groups, families, and individuals at each of the St. Charles County parks. Included in this are picnic shelters, camping facilities, and indoor lodges that can host weddings, family functions, and business conferences.
St. Joseph Museums, Inc.
The St. Joseph Museum is the oldest of the four museums in the St. Joseph Museums, Inc. system, beginning in 1927 as the Children’s Museums of St. Joseph. Traditionally, it has been dedicated to the cultural and natural history of St. Joseph.
